COMMUNAL RIOTS VICTIMS APPEAL
The Indian Muslim Federation (UK) has launched an appeal to raise funds for people affected by the communal disturbances in West India. About 200,000 Muslims are homeless and their businesses worth millions of rupees vandalised by the racist forces of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). About 1000 persons have been killed and there are numerous families without a breadwinner. The state government and central government of India have supported the VHP and failed in protecting citizens.
The Indian Muslim Federation (IMF) will forward all funds collected directly to its relief centres in Gujarat. Further information can be obtained from Shamsuddin Agha, President, Indian Muslim Federation (UK) on 0208 558 6399 (email: firstname.lastname@example.org).
The body has NGO consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The fax number of the IMF is 0208 539 4192. Its website address is www.indianmuslim.org.uk
