Muslim Hands obtains unique certification
The British Muslim charity based in Nottingham, Muslim Hands has achieved a rare accolade - accreditation under the ISO 9001:2000.
This standard is an internationally recognised quality
management system standard developed by the International Organisation of
Standardisation (ISO). ISO certification vouches for the standard of quality,
systems, procedures, documentation and working practices in place in an organisation.
Muslim Hands is the first Muslim charity to obtain this certification, and builds on an earlier achievement: the Investor in People Award 3 years ago. Both
recognise emphasis on the development and investment in quality of staff and working practices.
Muslim Hands achieved this standard without a single non-conformance. The scope of the accreditation is for the collection, administration and distribution of charitable funds.
To achieve the standard, Muslim Hands appointed one of its staff members as
Quality manager. The Charity then upgraded all our working practices in the
fields of policies, administration, projects, fundraising, management
information, quality standards and even customer satisfaction. We
streamlined where we had to and implemented new systems where appropriate
too - all this to help increase efficiency, productivity, reliability, donor
satisfaction, quality and reduce any waste.
Aamer Naeem, Quality Manager at Muslim Hands notes, "We successfully achieved the award early July 2004. The credibility that
this gives us, especially with our donors, is priceless. It means donors can
donate knowing full well that the funds are managed and allocated in an
efficient and effective manner. Website:
