Mustafa Khalifa Ibn Abdullah
A Turkish historian, geographer and bibliographer.
Mustafa's magnum Opus was Kashfal Zunun an Asami al Kutub wa al Funoon (The removal of doubt from the names of books and the sciences) which was a most valuable bibliographical encyclopaedia in Arabic by giving information about 15,000 Arabic, Persian and Turkish books. His Jihannuma was a book on geography, and Tuhfat al Kibar fi Asar it Behar, a history of the Ottoman Navy. He also wrote some treatises on economics and Islamic doctrine. All these books were translated into English.
Mustafa Khalifa Ibn Abdullah was born in Constantinople and was also called Katib Chelebi (young scribe) by the Turks.
