Rizaeddin Fakhreddin

Birth:1859

Death:1936

A Russian Islamic scholar, writer and journalist. Fakhreddin was the editor of Vaqt a Muslim newspaper in 1906 and in 1908 the chief editor of Shura (Council). He authored over sixty books on Islamic history, biographies of famous Muslims, education, reform, theology, jurisprudence, social and political problems of Russian Muslims. When the revolution took place in Russia in 1917, the All Russia Muslim Congress elected him the Qazi. He was elected as Mufti and head of the religious board of the Muslims in 1922.
