Abdul Rahim Kajai
A leading Malay journalist.
Kajai was known as the 'Father of Malay Journalism' and the 'Father of Malay short-story (Cerpen)'. As a pioneer of Malay nationalism he was a critical commentator on issues such as the way Chinese and Indians were permitted to take over the rights of the Malaysian people and other Malay issues.
Kajai was the first editor of fortnightly weekly Majlis newspaper and who later became the editor of the daily Warta Malay and eventually Malay financed and owned newspaper, Utusan Melayu.
Kajai as a well-known short-story writer authored over 48 books including Pusaka Kajai (1949), Banyak Udang Banyak Garam (1949) and Lain Padang Lain Belalang (1961).
Abdul Rahim Kajai was born in Kuala Lumpur and was educated in Malay and Arabic.
