An Iraqi military leader.
He was a veteran of many battles and had joined with Arab tribesmen in 1058-59 to attempt to defeat the Abbasid Caliph al Qaim in favour of the Fatimi of Egypt. He was killed by the Turks, led by Toghril Beg who seized Baghdad and re-established the rule of the Abbasids. These power struggle exploited the religious allegiances of the Muslim communities of the time.
