Considered to be the most powerful Arab woman and the 70th most powerful woman in the world by US-based Forbes Magazine in its 2010 World's 100 Most Powerful Women, Shaikha Lubna al-Qassimi holds a cabinet position in the United Arab Emirates. Being the first women to hold a cabinet position in the UAE, Lubna constantly works on improving her country global status. Her country's policy based on openness and competitiveness has helped put the UAE on the road to economic development. Having run a successful online auction company, Lubna also worked as a manager for the agency charged with automating the UAE's federal government. Lubna symbolises improvement in the rights of women in the region and humanitarian effort. Lubna graduated from the California State University and received an honorary doctorate of science from the same university.
