Al Ghalib Muhammad Ibn Yusuf Ibn Nasr

Birth:1232

Death:1273

The founder of the Nasirid dynasty in Spain. He was commonly known as Ibn al-Ahmar but assumed the title of al Ghalib (overcomer). Al-Ghalib built the famous Alhambra palace (the red one) because of the red stucco used in its construction, which still survives. The Nasirids ruled Granada from 1232 to 1492.
