Abd Allah Ibn Yasin
A teacher from an-Nafis (in present day Libya) who instructed the Berbers in Islam.
The followers he attracted to his ribat (a fortified place of seclusion) were known as Al Murabitun (the people of the retreat) or Almoravids (its Anglicised form) who founded the Almoravid empire. His successor was Abu Bakr whose cousin Ibn Tashufin conquered Algeria in 1082 and Andalusia (Spain) in 1086.
