An eminent jurist of India. Ahmadi, from the bar (1954-55) to the bench of the Supreme Court (1988) and Chief Justice of India (1994-96), has now been elected new chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, which was founded by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Aziz Ahmadi who believes the erosion of the rules of law and the corrupt political system posed a great threat to the Indian democracy has never been shy of voicing his concern over matters of public interest. Aziz Mushabber Ahmadi was born in Surat.
