Death:2003

Comedy star of Bollywood film. Badruddin Jamaluddin Qazi, widely known as Johnny Walker, with his highly mobile face, pencil-thin moustache, squeaky voice and uncanny sense of timing acted in nearly 300 films, tickling audiences with brilliant performances that remain unequalled today in Bollywood. Johnny Walker first break in India's film capital city of Bombay came with a role in Baazi (1951). One of his most memorable roles was in Pyassa (1957) in which he plays a traditional Indian head masseur who scours Bombay's streets for unsuspecting customers on whom he unleashes his dubious skills and comic antics. He retired officially in 1983 but his last film, 14 years after retiring, was Chachi 420 (1997). Johnny Walker who entertained generations of Indian-cinema-goers for near three decades was, off-screen, a serious, sensitive person who believed in simple living despite his high earnings. Badruddin was born in a poor family in Indore in central India. The family moved to Bombay due to economic hardships when he was 14. He was forced into becoming a bus conductor to make money for his 15-member household. He died in Bombay.
