Musician Zaryab was the nickname of Abul Hasan Ali, who had graced the court of Harun Rashid as a musician and was welcomed by Abdur Rahman II of Cordoba in person in 822. He soon established himself in Cordoba as a musician, singer, a wit and even as arbiter of fashion. It was said that he introduced glasses instead of metal vessels.
