Muhammad Mahdi Shamsuddin
Lebanon's supreme, enlightened scholar and thinker.
Shamsuddin authored some 25 books on Islamic system of rule and administration, challenging the materialistic intellect. In 1985, he coined the term adadiyya, or dialogue between Abrahamic faiths.
He also fought against corruption and injustice and protested about human rights abuses.
Imam Shamsuddin was born in Najaf and died of lung cancer.
