Leader During the Second World War (1939-45) the leader of Tijani tariqa became openly active in Ankara. After the triumph of the Democratic party in 1950, the new government allowed the re-opening of Saints tombs. Kamal organised the destruction of the statues of Ataturk and in consequence he and his lieutenants received prison sentences.
