He was in the service of Sultan Ibrahim of Ghazni, in which he conducted himself so well that the Sultan gave him a princess of the house of Gazni in marriage. By the princess he had seven sons. One of them Fakhruddin Masud, became king of Bamyan. The second, Qutbuddin married the daughter of Sultan Bahram Shah. The third, Alauddin Hasan was known in history as Alauddin Jahan Soz, because he had burnt Ghazni to avenge his brother in 1152. Shahabuddin Ghori, who became the founder of the Muslim empire in India was his descendent.
