Hasan Al Din
His empire stretched from Borneo to New Guinea and from Lombok to southern Philippines.
Hasan reigned from 1631 to 1670 only after long and bitter fighting did he in 1667 accept Dutch terms, which ultimately proved disastrous, and which destroyed Macassar's dominance in trade and politics of that region.
Islam had come to this region rather late when prince of Tallo embraced the faith in 1605.
