It is commonly believed that Jahangir fell in love with Anarkali and when Akbar came to know about it, she was buried alive. The story may not be true but the following couplet was engraved on her tombstone 'Oh! Could I see again the face of my lost friend. I would thank my God until the day of judgement'. Anarkali's mausoleum is at a place called Anarkali in Lahore, Pakistan.
