The founder of the Tolu-e-Islam movement, spreading pristine teaching of Islam, in Pakistan. Ghulam Ahmad Parwez, formerly in the Civil Service of India and later Pakistan, started publishing Tolu-e-islam with the primary object to enlighten people that, according to the Qur'an, the ideology and not geographical boundary was the basis for the formation of the nation, and, therefore, that a politically independent state was a pre-requisite to live in Islam. During the Pakistan movement, Ghulam Ahmad had been a gratifying counsellor to Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the matters pertaining to the Quranic values and principles. After the emergence of Pakistan, in 1947, the chief objective of Ghulam Ahmad's Tolu-e-Islam movement was to propagate the implementation of the principle, which had inspired the demand for separate Muslim State to help transform the live force of Islamic ideology, into the Constitution of Pakistan. He served as a member of the Law Commission formed under the 1956 Constitution of Pakistan. He was founder chairman of the Quranic Education Society and the Director of the Quranic Research Centre established under his guidance in Lahore. Ghulam Ahmad lifelong research and studies produced many books on Islamic subject, the most celebrated being Ma'arif-Ul-Qur'an in eight volumes. Ghulam Ahmad was born in Batala, in the district of Gurdaspur, in east Punjab now a part of India.
