Pseudonym of Muhammad Tawfiq Nizami, founder of the modern school of Turkish poetry. Editor of Servet-i-Funun in 1896. He sought to adapt Turkish poetry to western themes and forms. His most important works was Rubbab-i-Shikeste (1896), Halukun Deftri (1911) and Sis (1962).
