Abul Hasan Ash Shadhili

The founder of the order of Shadhliyah. In 1218 Shadhili travelled to Tunisia where his teaching aroused hostility. He was forced into exile to Egypt. It was in Egypt that he founded the Shadhliyah order which was to become the most influential brotherhood of North Africa and from which 15 other orders derived their origin, such as Jazuliyah and Darqarwah in Morocco and Iswiyah in Algeria and Tunisia. Shadhili Ash Abu Al Hassan Ali Ibn Abdullah was born at Ghumara, Morocco.
