Muzzafar Ali

An Iranian miniature, painter and calligrapher of safivid Shahs. Muzaffar was a relative of the great painter Behzad, who is believed to have taught him. He was the court painter of Shah Tahmasp I, and painted the Shah Namah for him, illustrated the Khamsa between 1539 and 1543 and worked on the Haft Awrang of Jami between 1555 and 1565. He executed the wall paintings for the hall of forty columns (chihle sutun) at Qazwin. All the three manuscripts illustrated by him were considered masterpieces of Iranian painting.
