The widely known collector of an authoritative anthology of Sahih hadith - book of traditions. Muslim widely travelled Arabia, Egypt, Syria and Iraq to collect traditions. Two sound and authoritative anthologies were completed by al-Bukhari (d. 870) and Muslim, which stimulated interest in fiqh, and led eventually to the creation of a homogeneous religious life, based on the sacred law of the Shariah, throughout the vast Muslim world. The inspiration of the law was the person of the Prophet, peace be upon him, the Perfect Man. By imitating the smallest details of his external life and by reproducing the way he ate, washed, loved, spoke and prayed, Muslims hoped to be able to acquire his interior attitude of perfect surrender to Allah. To this day, Muslims remain deeply attached to the Shariah, which has made them internationalise the model figure of Hazrat Muhammad, peace be upon him, at a very deep level and, liberating him from the seventh century, has made him a living presence in their lives and a part of themselves. Muslim's collection of hadith was considered even superior to Bukhari's Sahi in respect of the Is Nads - but in other respects Bukhari is considered superior to him. Muslim had prefixed to his work an introduction to the science of tradition, which itself was a very important work. Muslim's book is amongst Sihah Sita (the six corrects) of the books of traditions. Muslim's Sahih a book of traditions is extensively used as a reference book. He wrote other books on traditions, theology and biography but none had survived. The other amongst the 'six corrects' are Bukhari's Shahih, Maja's Sunan, Tirmizi's Shahih, Sijistani's Sunan and Nasai's Sunan. Muslim was born Muslim bin al-Hajaj Abul Hussain al-Qushairi and was born at Naishapur, Iran.
