Munir Ahmad Khan

Nuclear power engineer and civil servant. Munir Ahmad Khan was the chairman (1972 - 1991) of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and is considered as one of the architects of the nuclear programme of his country. Munir Khan was involved in building Kahuta establishment by 1976 and the Heavy Water plutonium production reactor at Khushab. He launched a dozen of nuclear medicine and agricultural centres in Pakistan along with the heavy water production, nuclear fuel fabrication, uranium mining, milling, conversion and uranium hexafloride production facilities. Munir Ahmad Khan who was awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz by Pakistan was born in Lahore.
