He devoted himself to the social and educational work of the 'Muhammadiyah'. Lukman was also an internationalist, behind all the just Islamic causes across the globe and was involved in many Muslim organisations round the world. Lukman Harun was born in the West Sumatran village of Limbanang and died in Jakarta.
