An associate professor at the Technical University of Denmark’s National Space Institute, Shfaqat Abbas Khan is an expert on Greenland’s glaciers. Together with colleagues at TUD, he has used data from a network of Global Positioning System stations across Greenland to measure the rise of land resulting from ice loss and the estimated changes since the last ice age (reported in Nature, 29 September 2016).
Abbas Khan completed his BSc, MSc and PhD at the University of Copenhagen, later serving as a research scientist at the NSI from 2005. 2005: He was awarded the ‘Best Young Author Award and Report in the Journal of Geodesy by the International Association of Geodesy. In 2008 he moved to the post of Senior Scientist at the Department of Geodesy, TUD.
