Amel is recognised as a leading international expert in health law, with particular expertise in the regulation of assisted reproductive technologies. . . During the pandemic, Amel has used her medical law expertise to help local responses and currently sits on a hospital Clinical Ethics Committee and a Clinical Decision Making Committee. With a respected ethicist she delivered a webinar in May 2020 on ‘Clinical and Ethical Decision Making in a Pandemic: The UK Experience’ . With Seamus Byrne, she received ethical approval to undertake a research study on ‘The Impact of the Pandemic on Children with SEND and their education’ which received over 230 responses.
